Red spheres are ability spheres. When Soul Resonance is active, the Caex gains access to these abilities.
The Caex assumes a defensive posture, enticing the attention of nearby hostiles to become the focal point of enemy fire. This is a mind-effecting ability that affects all hostiles within the dragon’s age category x 10 feet. All non-mindless hostiles within range are entitled to a will save, DC 10 + the dragon’s age category. Affected creatures are entitled to another save, same difficulty, when they are attacked by another source.
Suffusing their body with the raw arcane power that flows form their dragon’s soul, the Caex can harden his skin against physical attacks wrought by his enemies. When the Caex fights defensively, he gains one point of damage reduction per age category of his dragon. This damage reduction can only be overcome by serricsteel weapons.
Perfecting his ability to ward allies with an almost supernatural resolution, the Caex gains the ability to step between allies and oncoming attacks. When an attack successfully targets an ally, the Caex can choose, as an immediate action, to take the damage of the attack for the targeted ally. The Caex can intercept a number of attacks each round equal to their dragon’s age category.
Drunk on the lust for battle, the Caex gains the ability to ignore penalties while maintaining their Soul Resonance. This ability allows the Caex to ignore a single point of penalties to any attack roll per age category of their dragon.
Furiously assaulting their enemies while imbued with the font of energy from their dragon’s soul, the ferocious attacks of the Caex can overcome even the toughest monsters. The Caex ignores one point of damage reduction per age category of their dragon regardless of the type of damage reduction.
Hurling arcane might in the form of concussive energy blasts is common place for the Caex, so their enemies learn to adapt. By combining their own elemental prowess with the overwhelming power of their dragon’s soul, the Caex can overcome opponents energy resistance. This ability allows the Caex to ignore 2 points of energy resistance per age category of their dragon. This ability confers no benefit for beings with energy immunity.
Opening the mind to the elements of battle around them, the Caex with this ability gains a supernatural insight into the theater of war. This ability allows the Caex to know the hit points, weaknesses, and status (as per the spell) of all creatures in the Caex’s theater. The range of this ability is 100 feet per point of their dragons’s age category. Hostile targets may attempt to prevent the Caex from learning this information with a successful will save, DC 10 + the dragon’s age category.
Often tactical actions must succeed to change the course of battle. Using this ability, the Caex can all but guarantee the actions of another. By holding action to act on another’s turn, the Caex can attempt the aid another action to confer a larger bonus to allies. A successful aid another confers a +2 bonus per age category of the Caex’s dragon.
Reaching the pinnacle of tactical prowess, this ability allows the Caex to open their mind to all those present in their theater of battle. The range of this ability is 100 feet per age category of the Caex’s dragon and hostiles can attempt to exclude themselves from it with a successful Will save, DC 10 + the dragon’s age category. Failure allows the Caex to gleam surface thoughts from all those within range at once. This information is understood inherently by the Caex and does not prevent other actions that require concentration.
Fluid on their feet, the Caex can tap their Soul Resonance to enhance their own speed. This ability increases all forms of movement by 5 feet per age category of the Caex’s bonded dragon.
Winding through battlefields like water in a stream, the Caex with this ability can effortlessly race through pitched battles to their destination. In any round the Caex has taken more than a five foot step, this ability confers a +1 bonus to the Caex’s AC and CMD for every age category of their bonded dragon.
The Caex has developed a supernatural quickness upon learning this ability, moving so fast that enemies have a hard time striking the blur of motion the Caex becomes. In any round the Caex has taken more than a five foot step, attacks targeting the Caex suffer a miss chance equal to 10% x their dragon’s age category.
Each blue sphere signifies a bonus Feat. The bonus feat can be any feat the Caex qualifies for, but players are encouraged to pick feats in the spirit of the corresponding paradigm. These bonus feats are only active when the Caex is maintaining Soul Resonance, but bonus feats acquired in paradigm can be used to meet the prerequisites of bonus feats selected later on in the paradigm.
Green spheres indicate a +2 ability score boost to one ability. The corresponding ability is labeled and acts as a natural increase to the Caex’s abilities while they maintain Soul Resonance.
